Forum - Dealing with Austerity in Taunton
The Taunton and West Somerset Anti-Austerity Community Campaign's Steering Group is organising a forum to consider the impacts of austerity on the people and community of Taunton and West Somerset and how we are coping with them. The event will take place on Thursday 26th June 2014 at 7pm at Friends Meeting House, Bath Place, Taunton.
A panel of speakers have been invited, UNISON included, to speak for no more than five minutes on the impacts that each organisation is witnessing and how it is responding. After everyone on the panel has spoken, those present will be invited to ask questions and/or share their own experiences. Those invited include; Taunton Association for the Homeless, the CAB, the Taunton Food Bank, the Taunton Team Chaplaincy and Taunton Deane Borough Council. Taunton Trades Council is, of course, supporting this community initiative. By talking about these things together, it is hoped that cumulative picture of how austerity is affecting the people of Taunton and West Somerset can be built as well as looking at how it can be tackled by the community.
Please support this meeting and have your say. It will be a fantastic way for UNISON to build much needed links with the community, especially ahead of potential strike action.
